Why this route

Why people move from Seattle to Boise.

Seattle to Boise has gone from a once-a-month route to a weekly one over the last several years. Idaho's Treasure Valley is the fastest-growing metro in the Pacific Northwest, and the customer profile is consistent enough that we plan our summer crew schedule around it.

The first pattern is cost-of-living migration. Boise is materially cheaper than Seattle for comparable housing — a three-bedroom house in Meridian or Eagle at a price that buys a one-bedroom condo on Capitol Hill. Families with remote-work flexibility and individuals nearing retirement are the most frequent callers in this group.

The second pattern is retirees seeking a drier, sunnier climate without committing to Arizona or Nevada heat. The Boise area gives four real seasons, low humidity, mild summers, and a small-city feel — appealing to a specific subset of Seattle retirees who don't want the desert.

The third pattern is tech and industrial expansion. Micron's footprint in Boise, Boise State's growth, and a steady stream of corporate relocations into the Treasure Valley all generate Seattle-to-Boise moves. These tend to be one- and two-bedroom apartments or starter houses, often single professionals or young families on a start-date schedule.

The route

The Seattle-to-Boise run.

Approximately 510 miles — the shortest of our interstate routes. I-5 south to I-84 east through the Columbia River Gorge and across eastern Oregon into the Treasure Valley. The route is mostly flat highway driving with no real mountain passes between Seattle and Boise.

Transit is 1–2 days door-to-door, and for smaller moves with an early start we can deliver same day. Weather risk is minimal year-round; light snow near Stanfield or Pendleton in deep winter is the rare exception and almost never causes a real delay.

We run this route weekly during peak season (May through September) and one to two times a month off-season. It's the cleanest interstate route on our schedule.

Destinations

Treasure Valley destinations we cover.

Boise proper

Downtown Boise, North End, Boise State area, Hyde Park, the Bench. Mix of historic-home estate moves in the North End and new-build condos downtown. Permit-parking coordination as needed.

Meridian

Family-suburb growth corridor — new construction, planned developments, gated communities. Often three- and four-bedroom houses with full packing. HOA delivery rules vary by development; we coordinate ahead.

Eagle

Affluent western suburb, river-adjacent, equestrian properties common. Estate moves with longer driveways and easier access than urban Boise. Frequent multi-vehicle moves.

Nampa and Caldwell

West Treasure Valley — family neighborhoods and growing commuter base. Quick access from I-84, straightforward unload conditions.

Kuna and Star

Southern and northwestern growth areas. Newer developments, often new construction, family-scale moves with school-year-aligned arrival dates.

Garden City and Ada County rural

Rural and semi-rural addresses around the Treasure Valley periphery. Long-driveway loads.

Pricing

Who we move

Three patterns on the Boise route.

Cost-of-living migrants

Families and remote-work professionals trading Seattle housing prices for Treasure Valley space. Usually three- or four-bedroom houses leaving the Eastside for Meridian or Eagle, with school-district arrival timing.

Retirees seeking a drier climate

Seattle retirees who want four real seasons, low humidity, and a small-city feel without the desert. Often downsizing from a four-bedroom into a two- or three-bedroom Boise or Eagle home, with one or two vehicles along.

Tech and industrial relocations

Micron, Boise State, and Treasure Valley growth-corridor employers. One- and two-bedroom apartments or starter houses, often single professionals or young families on a tight start-date schedule.

From our founder

Our founder on the Boise route.

Boise is one of our cleanest routes — I-84 is a straight shot, minimal weather, 510 miles. We run it weekly during summer. Most Boise moves are two- to three-bedroom houses going to Meridian, Eagle, or growth-area Boise. The Idaho lifestyle means we often ship a pickup truck or two along with the move. For smaller moves we can do same-day delivery with an early start.
