Why this route

Why people move from Seattle to Palm Springs.

The Coachella Valley is the most retiree- and snowbird-skewed route on our entire schedule. Customer patterns fall into three groups, and all three are heavily seasonal — most of our Palm Springs work runs October through April.

The first group is snowbirds with seasonal homes. They winter in the desert and summer in Seattle, and they call us to move partial home contents — often a defined set of belongings, art, and a vehicle — to the desert in the fall and back in the spring. Many of these are repeat customers with a known schedule we plan around.

The second group is full-time retirees relocating out of Seattle's wet weather. These tend to be three- and four-bedroom estate-scale moves with appraised inventory, fine art, antiques, wine collections, and two or three vehicles. The destinations cluster in Palm Desert, La Quinta, and the country-club communities — PGA West, Mission Hills, Trilogy, Sunnylands-adjacent estates.

The third group is second-home owners building out a desert residence. The move is usually a curated set of contents — furniture, art, kitchen — purchased or selected for the desert home specifically, with the Seattle primary residence remaining intact. We handle a lot of these as a single coordinated load.

The route

The Seattle-to-Coachella-Valley run.

Approximately 1,250 miles. I-5 south through Oregon and California to roughly the LA basin, then east on I-10 into the Coachella Valley. Most loads complete door-to-door in 2–3 days.

The Tehachapi grade in winter is the only winter consideration on the way south, and rarely causes a real delay. The bigger seasonal factor is destination heat — summer desert temperatures are hard on a long list of household items, and we plan accordingly.

We run the Coachella Valley route 4–6 times a year, concentrated October through April. Our founder runs the larger estate moves personally — the access at country-club destinations benefits from a single point of coordination.

Destinations

Coachella Valley destinations we cover.

Palm Springs

Old Las Palmas, Movie Colony, Tahquitz River Estates, Sunrise Park. Mid-century-modern estate moves with appraised art and furniture inventory are the recurring pattern here.

Palm Desert

North and South Palm Desert, El Paseo area, retirement communities. Our highest-frequency Coachella Valley destination — estate-scale family and retiree moves.

La Quinta

PGA West, Citrus Country Club, Trilogy. Country-club gate-pass and inventoried-entry coordination is standard planning. Often multi-vehicle.

Indian Wells

Country club estates, Hyatt area. Estate-scale loads with appraised inventory and fine-art crating. Restricted-access communities — gate coordination required.

Rancho Mirage

Mission Hills, Sunnylands area. Estate moves with similar country-club access patterns. Frequently multi-vehicle households.

Indio, Cathedral City, Coachella

Broader Coachella Valley — newer construction, mixed retiree and family destinations. Easier access than the country-club communities.

Pricing

How Coachella Valley moves are priced.

Long-distance moves are quoted based on weight, distance, packing scope, and access at both ends. We provide a free written estimate after a brief walkthrough — usually within an hour of your initial call.

Snowbird and second-home moves often involve partial home contents, which we quote on the specific shipment rather than on a full-home estimate. For a real number on your specific move, send us your origin ZIP, destination ZIP, and a list of what's coming.

Who we move

Three patterns on the Coachella Valley route.

Snowbirds with seasonal homes

Repeat customers who winter in the desert and summer in Seattle. Partial-home contents and a vehicle moved south in the fall, north in the spring. Defined dates and a known schedule we plan around year to year.

Full-time desert retirees

Three- and four-bedroom estate-scale moves out of Seattle's weather to Palm Desert, La Quinta, or country-club communities. Appraised inventory, fine art, wine, two or three vehicles. Our founder handles route planning personally.

Second-home owners

Curated furnishing of a desert residence while the Seattle primary remains intact. Often a single coordinated load with art, furniture, kitchen, selected specifically for the desert home.

From our founder

Our founder on the Coachella Valley route.

Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley is our seasonal route. We run it most often October through April — that's when snowbirds are moving south for the winter or full-timers are relocating from Seattle's wet weather. We pack carefully for the desert: electronics, wine, leather, fine art all need climate consideration. Most Coachella Valley moves are estate-scale with multiple vehicles.
